Our genetic counsellor-led helpline service is for people with a genetic condition, their relatives, professionals and anyone who needs to know more about genetic conditions and how to cope with the difficulties they can present.

Our helpline is an expanding service and is the only free helpline in the UK for all genetic conditions. It is a confidential and non-judgemental space for you to find out the information you need and discuss your feelings, concerns and fears about a genetic condition.

You can leave a voice message or send us an email any time. We are a small team and do all we can to respond to enquiries as quickly as possible, usually within two working days. On occasions the time we take to get back to you may be a little longer, but we will always respond as soon as we can.

Your enquiry will be treated in the strictest confidence. Please look at our Privacy Policy for more information.

How you can contact our helpline

Telephone answering service: 0800 987 8985
Email: helpline@genepeople.org.uk
Contact form: https://genepeople.org/contact-us/

When leaving us a voice message or sending an email please ensure you include your name, telephone number, name of the condition you are enquiring about and a brief outline of your main question or concern. This will enable our team to more effectively respond to your enquiry.

Please note our service cannot provide diagnosis, genetic testing or therapeutic psychological counselling.

In-order to improve our service and access funding we need to measure the impact of our service and gather feedback. We have short pre and post-contact surveys sent to everyone who contacts our helpline. Links to these online surveys are sent by text message or email. Responses are anonymous and we greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete these surveys.
